UMES ATHLETICS HAS MEAC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT TICKETS NOW ON SALE



Come to the 2008 MEAC Tournament!

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Basketball Tournament is just around the corner and the tickets are now on sale. Beginning February 7, 2008 the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Department of Athletics has the tickets on sale for its fans, alumni, students and supporters.

For just $100.00 or $50.00 for students and senior citizens, you can purchase your book of tickets that grants you admission to five days of basketball seeing Division I basketball at its best with the men and women's teams of the MEAC. The tickets can be purchased from the Department of Athletics by calling 410-651-6496, by visiting www.umeshawks.com, or by stopping by the Athletic Administration office in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center on the campus of UMES.

Why by your tickets from UMES? The Hawk fans will be treated to the best seats in the house, section 120 of the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C. That is center court in the lower level. The tournament, held at the home of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes and ACC's North Carolina State Wolfpack, will be played from March 10 through the 15, 2008 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

A ticket purchase also includes free admission to the MEAC MUSIC PASS, free concerts from Cherish, Novel and Dear Jayne. Additionally there will be a `special surprise' appearance by one of today's hottest artists soon to be announced. Other events, which can be bought separately, include the Slam Dunk Comedy Explosion. That features artists such as J. Anthony Brown, Georgre Wilborn, Darrell Banks and Alex Ortiz. A Miss MEAC Pageant, a Cheerleading Championship and more are also scheduled for the week.

The MEAC is a Division I basketball program comprised of 11 historically black colleges and universities located across the Atlantic coastline: Bethune-Cookman College, Coppin State University, Delaware State University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, Howard University, University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina A&T State University, and South Carolina State University.

The men's and women's basketball tournament will be played in Raleigh/Wake County through 2008. Both the men's and women's tournament winner receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament. The first game of the 2008 MEAC Basketball Tournament tips off Tuesday, March 10, and the championship games are played on Saturday, March 15.
