UMES TRACK & FIELD STAR INTERNS FOR SEN. OBAMA

Jamahl Strachan dreamed of becoming a lawyer and someday pursuing a career in politics while growing up in Nassau, Bahamas. THREE HAWKS NAMED TO THE USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

The United States Track & Field & Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today and amazing 468 women and 266 men who made up their respective Division I All-Academic Track & Field team. More than 140 schools were represented and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) was one of them, listing three student athletes among the group of scholars. MORE[+]

HAWK TRACKSTER TO RUN FOR JAMAICA IN OLYMPICS

Allodin Fothergill has had a stellar sophomore year for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). From the start of an early indoor season he has garnered All-MEAC honors, earning two gold medals in the conference championship (200, 400-meter dashes). He then placed 10th in the 400 meter-dash in the NCAA Division I 2008 Indoor Championships (47.24). His performances during the Outdoor season improved as he qualified for the NCAA East Regional track meet. On the big stage he ran 46.40 to advance to the Outdoor National Championship. For personal reasons he would not make the trip to Iowa. But his season wasn't over. MORE[+]

HAWKS' SEASON ENDS AT NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) hopes of adding more All-Americans to its growing stable fell just shy at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Hawks had three athletes qualify for the event, all posting top five finishes at the 2008 East Region Qualifiers. Allodin Fothergill (men'[s 400-meters), Tanisha Wisdom (women's 400-meters) and Merrecia James (women's 800-meters) all were eligible to attend the event. Each would need a top eight finish for All-American status, like Kimani Kirton earned for UMES last season. MORE[+]
