PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Baseball Team may not have had the season they hoped for in 2008, but they can still make the most of it. The Hawks head to the 2008 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament as the sixth seed, with the luck of drawing the top seeded Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) in the opening game of the tournament.

UMES and B-CU will open the event at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday in Norfolk, Va. on the campus of Norfolk State University. The Spartans host the tournament at Marty L. Miller Field. If UMES wins they get a bye until Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the double elimination bracket, a reward for the top seeded team, but one the Hawks can reap with the upset.

If they do not win they will play Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. against the loser of the second seeded North Carolina A& T State Aggies and the fifth seeded home standing Spartans. A win in that game and the Hawks turn around and play at 6:00 p.m. that night.

Coverage of the opening game will be heard on Delmarva on WTGM-AM 960, THE TEAM, as well as on the internet at www.umeshawks.com, thanks to www.AllInBroadcasting.com. If the Hawks play on Friday games will be heard only on-line while any Saturday games will be back on the air on WTGM-AM 960. Play by play of the games will be done by the voice of the Hawks, Nick Anastos.

The championship game is set for Sunday, May 18 at 1 p.m. Admission is $5 per day for adults and $3 for students, military and seniors with identification. Tickets prices are discounted for the entire tournament at $15 for adults and $9 for students, seniors and military with identification.
