BALTIMORE, Md. - It was almost an identical weekend as the past one. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) posted an 8-1 mark at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division meet and saw their only loss come to the Hornets of #18 Delaware State University (DSU) in another head to head match, just as it was last weekend at the MEAC North match in Dover, Del.

#4 UMES (16-2) opened the event seeing DSU right away, dropping the opening match 990-955. They wouldn't lose again. The Hawks ran through Hampton (997-879), #14 Morgan State (989-839), Howard (992-918) and Coppin State (930-709).

In the 4-1 mark posted by UMES in the head to head matches they got some impressive games from Kristina Frahm (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East H.S.) who averaged a 226 in her four games and posted the high game of the day with a 279. She rolled three games over 200 including a 246 and 201.

Total, the Hawks got 11 games over 200. Martha Perez (Bogota, Colombia/English School) picked up a 223 and 208, averaging a 197.25. All-American Laura Zanrucha (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley H.S.) also tallied two of those games, both 213s. She averaged a 198 for the day. Jamie Culbreth (Hochspeyer, Germany/Kaiserslautern American) rolled a 210 while teammates Jessica Worsley (Brick, N.J/Brick Memorial H.S.), Christine King (Upper Darby, Pa./Archbishop Predergast) and Sara DiScioscia (Hampton, Va./Poquoson H.S.) rolled a 211, 226 and 226 respectively.

On day two the Hawks continued their winning. They got revenge against #18 DSU, beating them in baker game format 799-773 to start the day. The Hawks continued on to top Morgan State (786-629), Hampton (777-708) and Coppin State (810-485) in baker matches.

The Hawks are tied for first place in the MEAC Northern Division with Delaware State as both sport 16-2 marks. DSU dropped a match to Howard this past weekend for their second loss.

UMES competes in their only home match of the season this weekend, hosting the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic November 17 & 18 at Millsboro Lanes in Millsboro, Del. The event begins at 9:00 each day and features 20 of the nations' top teams.
