PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - As it has the last two years, the small town of Millsboro, Del. will become the College Women's Bowling Capital of the world, if only for the weekend. The #4 ranked University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) will host the third annual Eastern Shore Hawk Classic beginning Saturday, November 17 and continuing through Sunday the 18th.

"I'm excited the season is really getting underway," said Head Coach Sharon Brummell. "We have bowled the past couple of weekends, but this is the true start of the major tournaments and we are honored to host the first major event of the year."

Millsboro Lanes, in downtown Millsboro, serves as the UMES home center and they will share it beginning at 10:00 on Saturday with 19 of the country's best teams.

Twenty teams will be divided into four pools, playing a cross pool format and meeting on Saturday for five or six games with the action concluding around four or five p.m. The action will continue on Sunday beginning at 9:00 a.m. with five Baker matches, each will consist of four games. Sunday will end sometime between one and two p.m.

The twenty team field includes #1 Vanderbilt, the team who topped UMES in game seven of the National Championship last season, and current #3 Farleigh Dickinson the 2005 National Champion.

Other teams attending the event include #18 Delaware State, #14 Morgan State, #6 New Jersey City University, #19 St. Peter's College, #17 Adelphi, #16 Bethune-Cookman, #7 Sacred Heart, and 11 other unranked teams.

#1 Vanderbilt won the tournament last year.

The event also features five Most Valuable Player awards and one MVP award. Trophies are presented to the top four teams, based on win/loss record and the individual highest game.

"It should be an interesting experience for all the teams. Each coach will get to see how their freshmen perform on the sport shot against tough teams and their squads handle the loss of players from last season," said Brummell. "Luckily for us we have bowled twice already and I think our team is ready for the challenge and can be as good if not better than last season," Brummell concluded.

Everyone can see for themselves beginning Saturday in Millsboro.
